Update the specialised substitute residential care register

Introduction

The specialised substitute residential care (SSRC) register records information about children and young people accessing overnight care services and the agencies that provide or supervise that care.

The SSRC register:

• is monitored by the Office of the Children’s Guardian under the Child Safe Scheme
• has replaced the voluntary out-of-home care (VOOHC) system
• holds provider details, case plan and review dates, and a child or young person’s:
  • personal details and length of time spent in care
  • disability details (if applicable)
  • Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander status.

Children and young people have a right to access and correct any information held about them by a provider or on the SSRC register.

Eligibility

You must be a care provider to update the SSRC register.

How to update

If you do not already have access to the SSRC register:

1. Complete a Child Safe self-assessment.
2. Send an email to ssrc@ocg.nsw.gov.au to request access to the SSRC register.

Once you have access, log in to the SSRC register to:

• make a new placement
• exit a placement
• make a supervisor notification
• make a case plan notification
• review a placement history.
